I put the flywheel bolt into the crankshaft leaving it lose about 3 turns and the gear puller pushed against that (rather than mashing up the end of the crankshaft). I had to torque that gear puller down as tight as I could and with my last UMPH the flywheel finally popped off.
Webbreak the welds off. clean it up and weld 3 grade eights bolts between the flywheel holes. Fix the puller with washers and nuts ( snug, not tight) and therefore allow the puller to finds it center when you do up the puller bolt.
