Any snag point be it the nut saddle or string trees will hurt performance. It's a small investment to make one of the contact points a non issue. They are made to have the right string break angle over the nut. I forget the right degree of angle, but I'm sure a google search will get you the info or someone else here will know. Personally, I'm awaiting delivery of a couple of sets of Graphtech string trees.
